Down seconds are pointless after two games in Junior 3.
The locals were crushed 7-0 by South Antrim seconds at Laurelhill last Saturday and Gary Tate's men need to start picking up points and soon.
Philip Brown was forced to start in goal for the visitors last weekend as regular net minder Brian Hagan was late and he did well early on.
Hagan eventually arrived and with Down struggling to find any punch up front, the midfield and defence had their work cut out.
South Antrim led 2-0 at the interval and as Down tired in the second period to haul themselves back into contention, the home side rattled in another five goals in what was a very one-sided affair.
Jeremy McCready went close for Down in the latter stages of the Junior 3 clash, but the visitors never got out of first gear and were comprehensively defeated.
They have to start putting things right starting this Saturday at home Annadale fourths at Malone Park. A massive effort is needed from all the players to get Down's season off and running.
