Down seconds skipper Mark Graham grabbed his first ever hart-trick for the club during his side's superb 4-2 win at Campbellians last weekend.

The locals once against fielded their talented array of young players who played well, while experienced goalkeeper David Moreland kept his side in the game with a number of crucial saves, particularly during the first half.

Down are well placed in Junior 6 and played with confidence and purpose against a well-organised Campbellians side which doesn't lose too many games at home.

The visitors took the lead from midfield maestro Gary Brown in the 10th minute when his powerful shot gave the home 'keeper no chance, such was the pace on the ball.

Andy Teggart and Lewis McIntosh could and probably should have increased Down's lead, but the duo were off-target with their shooting.

The missed chances could have proved costly, but Moreland was in fine form, producing a number of excellent stops to ensure the visitors maintained their slender advantage at the interval.

The second half was 15 minutes old when skipper Graham took centre stage with the first of his three goals.

His fist came after Matthew Lennon scampered away down the left flank and crossed for his skipper to finish with aplomb.

Ten minutes later Graham scored the goal-of-the-game. McIntosh, who worked hard all afternoon, pulled the ball back to the top of the penalty area where Graham caught it on the fly to give the 'keeper no chance. It was a cracking finish.

While three goals ahead, Down took their foot off the gas and some sloppy defending allowed Campbellians to score twice to make it 3-2.

But any hope the home side of sneaking a point was dashed by Graham who completed a sublime hat-trick with just under five minutes to go with another scintillating finish from the top of the D.
